Victoria Passes Work From Home Legislation, Changes to Come in September
Victorians who can undertake their work from home will have legal entitlement to do so, for two days a week, from September 2026.
Set to be formally introduced from July following formal legislative implementation and integration into the state's Equal Opportunity Act, it is set to have a considerable impact on long term approaches to tenancies, how teams are operate, and work-life balances.
Though work from home is already well ensconced in the state, its new binding status may change how facilities managers anticipate employee numbers, traffic, service and amenity use (impacting upkeep, maintenance, and procurement), as well as how spaces operate, are designed, and user experience expectation.
