National Construction Code Gets Go Ahead for Victoria
The National Construction Code will come into effect in Victoria from next month.
The Victorian Government has confirmed the Friday 1 May start date in the wake of New South Wales and Queensland's announcement that their states will defer the code's implementation by a year.
With the National Construction Code (NCC) previewed in February, further definitions for what it means for Victoria have been defined.
Fewer variations between the NCC and state equivalent will be in place (roughly halving the amount in the 2022 NCC) with updates to children's service provisions, a carry over of several plumbing and building technical provisions and regulations to the NCC, a focus on lead free plumbing, and cost and performance improvement for those operating within the HVAC sector.
These changes will improve clarity and consistency with national guidelines, reduce compliance burdens, and ensure high standards of for purchasers, employees, and users.
