National Construction Code 2025 Released

The Australian Building Codes Board has released the National Construction Code (NCC) 2025.

With updates focusing on building durability, moisture and water management, commercial energy efficiency, and fire safety, NCC 2025 is formally live as of Friday 1 May, with each state and territory adapting the provisions at different stages.

Victoria will take up the changes from that date, with the Australian Capital Territory also implementing it from launch date. The ACT will have a 12-month transition period with adherence not mandatory until May 1 2027.

That is also when New South Wales, Queensland, and South Australia will adopt the code.

Western Australia and the Northern Territory are yet to confirm their commitment, with Tasmania still in a discussion phase about its take up of NCC 2025.
