CSIRO Unveil Upgrade to National Sustainability Testing Centre

A $3 million update to the CSIRO's (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) Renewable Energy Integration Facility (REIF) has been presented to the public.

Located in Newcastle, NSW at the Organisation's Energy Centre, the upgrades will enhance testing, validation, and commercial capabilities, improving the country's sustainability, reliability, and security in its electricity systems.

CSIRO will now be able to simulate microgrids and grid faults, test inverter performances with real world conditions, and run large scale solar, battery, and electric vehicle experiments. Its vehicle-to-grid technology focuses on utilising flexible batteries to store excess solar energy and to return power to the grid during peak periods.
