World FM Day celebrations

NSW celebrations at Doltone House in Sydney

World FM Day took place on 15 May 2019 under the theme "Celebrating Global ISO FM Standards". The FMA held events in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria during the week of World FM Day to commemorate this important occasion.

The New South Wales Branch celebrated with a Breakfast Briefing at Doltone House in Hyde Park, Sydney, which attracted 160 attendees. Titled The Accelerated Disruption of Digitisation in FM, this event explored how innovation and digitisation are reshaping the FM landscape, and what we can expect to see in the future. Speakers included Caroline Fitzwater from Scentre Group, Louise Monger from AMP Capital, Paul Vandervlis from Investa, and Entrepreneur and Consultant Todd Johnsen.

In Queensland, more than 100 guests attended a lunch seminar at Customs House in Brisbane. This session explored "Facilities Management: Where We've Come From, Where We're Going". A panel of experts discussed the evolution of the FM role over the past decade, and where the profession is heading, with a particular focus on available technologies, the surrounding environment, and landlord/customer expectations.

Victorian event at GMHBA Stadium, Geelong

The Victorian Branch held a lunch seminar at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong, which explored Crisis Management in FM. Gregory Metzger from First 5 Minutes delivered an excellent presentation titled "The Crisis You Haven't Seen Coming". He was later joined for a panel discuss by Sharon Pollard from Fed Square and Eric Giammario from Facility Management Victoria.

World FM Day is an initiative of Global FM. It is a chance to raise the profile of facilities managers everywhere, and highlight their important work in ensuring the health, safety, productivity and well-being of everyone who utilises the built environment.
