FMA Congratulates FM Industry Award Winners

FMA congratulates all the winners of the sixth annual FM Industry Awards for Excellence.

Held on the 19 November at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne, the Awards acknowledge the individuals, the teams and organisations that have excelled over the past year across ten Award categories.

The 2015 winners are:

Government Facilities Management Services

Airservices Australia, The changing face of facilities management in Airservices Australia

Over a 12 month period, the new Airservices Australia FM team rose to the challenge of improving services covering $30million of facilities spend. By delivering structured change through a program of contractual and service reform, the changed in-house method of delivering FM Services has delivered on organisation objectives, reduced risk and spend, while increasing customer and stakeholder satisfaction.

ECH, Change in FM service delivery model

ECH is a South Australian not for profit organisation providing accommodation for older people who are no longer able to support themselves in their own homes. ECH Property and Facilities Management is a business unit that provides strategic, responsive, reliable, and consistent value-for-money FM services supporting 97 villages, ECH community services and corporate facilities.


Energy Efficiency

Mirvac Real Estate, Sirius Building

The Sirius Building in the ACT has become the first major property in Australia to achieve a 6 Star NABERS Energy rating without Green Power. The rating represents market leading performance under the NABERS scale. This has been achieved with through the integrated efforts of Mirvac Facility Management, the property owner Mirvac Property Trust and the tenant, the Department of Health.

JLL, JLL Telstra Account Team

JLL has secured a new five year contract with Telstra. The organisation’s continued drive for excellence over the last years has included $5million plus Opex savings through next generation maintenance initiatives and out of the box thinking, managing a 300% increase in space & occupancy requests and delivering the first ever JLL “SMART” environmental lease for key strategic lease re-negotiations.


Occupant Safety & Wellbeing

Intact Group, Watch_Dogs 

The Intact Group, Watch_Dogs initiative has been a significant driving force in increasing work health and safety awareness, hazard reporting and injury reduction. The scheme serves as an overarching mechanism for safety culture readjustment. By creating a centralised and focused branding message Intact Group can realign employees’ perception on the importance of safety, in particular hazard reporting. 


Collaborative Partnerships 

CMC Property Services and Cushman & Wakefield/Australia Post, CMC Maintenance Application-ECRM

CMC worked closely in partnership with Cushman & Wakefield and end client Australia Post to automate and develop workflows including the development of a specific application. This application, in conjunction with CMC's Electronic Customer Relationship Management system, now gives Cushman & Wakefield live view of cleaning at its Parcel Locker sites eliminating various administrative functions and the need for Cushman & Wakefield to inspect the sites.

JLL, Commonwealth Bank Place at Darling Quarter Outstanding Asset Performance

Commonwealth Bank Place is a campus-style commercial development located within the iconic Darling Quarter Precinct in Sydney. Working collaboratively the owners, Lendlease, the JLL property management team and the commercial tenant, CBA, have achieved the only 6 Star Green Star Performance rating in Australia that recognises global leadership in sustainability through ongoing asset management and performance.

Collaborationhub, Collective Social Intelligence: Visualising Property

Collective Social Intelligence: Visualising Property is aimed at assisting companies with large property footprints by providing a process, methodology and visualisation capability to maximise the value and minimise the risks associated with managing the portfolio, the suppliers and the vendors. It will allow the manager to view every property asset in every city in the world, not just visually but every piece of information relating to that property.


Young Achiever of the Year 

Richard Pratten, Operations Manager, La Trobe University

Richard Pratten is dedicated and passionate and his enthusiasm and constant drive to achieve has seen him excel professionally. Recently elected as the FMA’s Victorian Vice Chair by his peers, Richard’s demonstrated ability to lead, develop and manage complex situations and teams has seen him excel in his roles to date.

Matthew Harrison, Associate Director -Technical Services, CBRE

Matthew Harrison is Associate Director of Technical Services within CBRE’s Asset Services division. During his 15 years in the property industry, Matthew has managed and delivered on all facilities related services for clients including Investec and Valad property group. Matthew is considered a specialist in the Melbourne CBD and fringe markets and combines his market expertise, commitment to clients and work ethic to deliver exceptional results for his clients.
