The 2019 FM in WA Conference was a huge success, with 220 attendees, fantastic speakers and an excellent venue. Held at the Crown Perth Convention Centre on 25 July 2019, the conference provided a full day of professional development, lively conversations and networking opportunities.

This year’s theme was FM Forecast: Blue Skies, Clouds or Storms. Delegates heard from leading experts on a range of topics including technology, sustainability, diversity, risk management and more.

The conference began with a moving Welcome to Country, followed by presentations on gender equality, sustainability and social responsibility.

After morning tea, the focus moved to technology. Sodexo, our Major Event Sponsor, provided a window into the world of robotics, and how technology could revolutionise customer service, with Eduardo Somoano’s presentation on IoT post 2025.

During the Conference Chapter Workshop, Mr Somoano and Danai Stamp from IFMS demonstrated cost-saving and efficiency IoT applications as they outlined Sodexo's digital transformation journey. The Sodexo robot stole the show!

After lunch, the audience heard from Iggy Tan, author and Managing Director of Altech Chemicals, who spoke about mind training for happiness. Mr Tan also provided each attendee with a free copy of his new book Stop Craving Happiness.

As the focus shifted to sustainability, Phil Raso from City Switch spoke about how Australia is leading the charge on green buildings. Jack Noonan from WELL Building also spoke about how to connect buildings, public health and WELL.

During the final session, the audience heard from Nick Stokoe from Cundall who spoke about Australian superannuation assets and environmental sustainability. He explained how the company helped boost the operational energy performance of a retail portfolio.

The day concluded with drinks and networking.

GJK, the Association’s Platinum Sponsor, said that they thoroughly enjoyed the conference, and were proud to showcase their new brand to Western Australia’s FM industry.

The FMA would like to thank the speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and attendees who helped make this conference such a success. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
