Blue IoT wins Global FM Award

Bob Sharon wins the 2019 FM Award for Industry Innovation

Melbourne-based property technology company Blue IoT has received a highly commended award for world-first innovation in the 2020 Global FM Awards of Excellence. Blue IoT received the award for its cloud-based smart city management platform “Encompass Blue”, which has transformed building and energy management.

By leveraging technology such as smart sensors and controllers, analytics and data interpretation, the platform can cut a facility’s energy consumption and carbon footprint in half, while also supporting health, wellness and safety.

Encompass Blue allows facilities managers to access information and make instant adjustments anywhere and any time, while delivering huge energy savings for old HVAC systems. It can be installed with minimum need for cabling and hardware replacement, and with no capital expenditure for new HVAC replacements.

When implemented in the City of Greater Dandenong’s office building in Melbourne, Encompass Blue led to a 47% reduction in energy usage. The platform remotely manages the building’s seven 20-year-old HVAC systems, while giving excellent visibility and control to the FM team.

Blue IoT Founder & Chief Innovation Officer Bob Sharon said he was “over the moon” to receive the award. “Encompass Blue is disruptive technology that delivers on the triple bottom line.”

He added that the platform has “massive implications for the world”, as we urgently seek to address climate change.

Nicholas Burt, Chief Executive Officer at the Facility Management Association, congratulated Blue IoT on the Global FM Award. “As the building sector looks for innovative ways to decarbonise, Blue IoT has developed an advanced platform that will help facilities managers improve environmental performance, while also reducing costs.”
