Membership categories


General membership

Available to sole practitioners engaged in facilities management in at least one of the following areas: 

  • Investment: development of corporate facilities; policies; long range planning analysis; procurement and disposal; investment planning.
  • Creation: planning and design; construction and renovation; change coordination; project management.
  • Operations: building operations, maintenance and engineering; refits and relocations; furnishings and equipment inventory management; tenancy management.
  • Administration: coordination with organisational resources including business operations; human resources and information technology; financial administration; sales and marketing; training; risk management.
  • Consultancy services
  • Teaching or advanced research
Student membership

Individuals enrolled as full-time students of facilities management, or a related discipline at a recognised institution. Proof of enrolment will be requested on application.

Retired membership

Individuals over the age of 65 years who have been engaged in the practice of facility management, have officially retired but have an ongoing interest in remaining involved with the industry.

International membership

Individuals working in facility management but not residing in Australia.


Corporate membership

FMA corporate membership is available to organisations who:

  • Provide facilities management/services
  • Have in-house teams
  • Are occupiers
  • Are product/service suppliers to the industry
