Celebrate International Women's Day 2021: "Choose to Challenge"
• Join us for a networking & information event to celebrate women's strength & resilience
• Help build a community that supports women in the modern workforce
The FMA Western Australian Branch Committee invites you to be a part of this important event.
Join us for a light breakfast and hear from two inspiring WA women: Sandy Anghie and Isla McRobbie, who will share stories about their personal journey and experiences.
We will come together to celebrate women, discuss navigating the workplace, and promote an integral, inclusive culture to shape our future.
This is a great opportunity to network, meet other women (both within and outside the industry), share experiences, and help build a community that supports women in the modern workplace.
Event Format:
- Speaker presentation, followed by a panel discussion and a Q & A, followed by networking.
Speaker information:

Sandy Anghie – Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Perth
Sandy Anghie has 25 years’ experience across diverse fields. She started her career as a lawyer in 1997, before returning to the University of WA in 2006 to pursue her dream of becoming an architect. Alongside her new role as Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Perth, Sandy has a residential architecture practice, is Editor of The Architect magazine, and is a Chapter Councillor of the Australian Institute of Architects WA. She has received several awards for her work on the urban revitalisation project Historic Heart of Perth, including the 2020 WA Emerging Architect Prize and the 2018 NAWIC Social Responsibility Award.

Isla McRobbie – Partner, Jackson McDonald
Isla is a partner in the Jackson McDonald Projects Infrastructure and Construction team with over 30 years’ experience in the construction sector. Isla specializes in front end construction across a range of sectors including schools, aged care and retirement living, local government, hospitality, residential and commercial. Isla has been involved with her clients in a range of exciting projects within Western Australia, including the first Build to Rent development in WA, and an innovative hotel project using prefabricated, pre-completed volumetric modules built overseas and delivered to site. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Isla practiced as an architect for 10 years. She is currently the chair of the Architects Board of Western Australia and a board member of the Master Builders Association of Western Australia which enables Isla to use those insights to great advantage in the construction sector work for clients. Isla leads the Diversity Committee within Jackson McDonald and is regularly involved as a mentor to other women in the construction industry more broadly. Late last year she was awarded the 2020 National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC – WA) Swan Group Crystal Vision Award, recognising an individual, company or group who encourages and promotes the advancement of women in construction, thereby making a significant contribution to the industry as a whole.
