More than 575 facilities management (FM) professionals came together at Melbourne’s Grand Hyatt on 15 November to celebrate the 2018 FM Industry Awards for Excellence.

Presented by the Facility Management Association (FMA), the Awards turn the spotlight on an industry that works tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to ensure the safety, security and sustainability of Australia’s built environment.

The significance of the evening was highlighted by a letter from Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who noted the importance of the FM industry to the Australian economy and the impact the profession has on our daily lives.

FMA Chief Executive Officer Nicholas Burt was thrilled to see the level of enthusiasm for the Awards continue to grow. “The Awards highlight the importance of the FM industry and allow us to learn from the success and innovation of others.”

FMA Chairman Kristiana Greenwood said, “The popularity of this event reflects the incredibly important role facilities management now plays, especially in our constantly shifting future.”

Emceed by comedian Sammy J and featuring Daryl Braithwaite and dance band Popcorn, the Awards once again lived up to its reputation for providing a wonderful night.

The FMA was excited to welcome International Day of People with Disability as the sponsor of the Diversity Award. This government initiative aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability, and celebrate their achievements and contributions.

The event also raised $20,000 for the FMA’s charity partner The Kids’ Cancer Project, which supports childhood cancer research.

Thank you to all the nominees, finalists and winners for their outstanding contribution to the FM industry. We are also grateful to our sponsors for making the Awards possible. We hope to see you again next year!
